Back in Boulder - Kelley's Big News

We arrived to Boulder on Monday afternoon. Mom and Dad Fannin, my classmate Kevin and one of our new neighbors helped us move in. The 2nd floor was a bit of a hassle, but we managed.

Our new address is:
1350 20th St, Apt K-36
Boulder, CO 80302

We are about 100 ft from our old apartment.

Until next Wednesday we are dog-sitting for my classmate Scott, so we haven't event slept in our new apartment yet. That's good because it's not ready.

Mom and Dad departed yesterday morning at 7:30AM and then our friend Jessica arrived last night at 10PM. She is staying with us for a few nights.

Now for Kelley's big news. She got an art job at a local book-making company. She is going to try the job for 1 month as a "contract" employee to see how it goes then they'll decide on the next step. She'll be able to walk to work (6 blocks) and her office is less than 1 block from the cool downtown area of Boulder so she'll be able to enjoy the coffee shops, etc. This will be a way for Kelley to "test" the full-time art world. I started my spanish class yesterday and have already done my homework which is due tomorrow. My MBA classes start on September 8. I start teaching the undergraduate course on Friday (2 days away).

We've been hiking already and feel pretty good to be back in Boulder.

Cheyenne, Wyoming and an eating lesson...

Today wasn't too long of a drive. Only about 6 hours. We are staying in Cheyenne, WY tonight. This was a set of windmills we passed on the highway today.

Trying to find a good place to have dinner we figured that the place with the largest cowboy boot would be ideal.

After dinner, many of us were quite "full" and complaining about eating too much. The chief complainer was Dad Fannin...as he was holding a half eaten cookie and a half eaten apple he was coaching us a told us "we've got to stop doing this to ourselves..." Then he realized that he was eating as he said it and we all had a good laugh.

Visit with Spendloves in Salt Lake City

The 2nd night of our trip was spent in Salt Lake City, Utah.

We had dinner with Cliff and Carol Spendlove. They live in downtown Salt Lake City.

In 1974 Dad Fannin went to work with Cliff at the Army's Dugway Proving Grounds in the middle of the Salt Lake Desert...actually in the middle of nowhere.

Day 1 of 3 (Drive from SF to Boulder)

This morning we loaded up the U-haul and we headed out from San Francisco. We travelled west to Yosemite National Park.

We visited some of the sights in the park but we couldn't stay for too long. Tonight we are sleeping in some small town named Hawthorne, Nevada.

Tomorrow our plan is to drive to Salt Lake City.

Mom and Dad Fannin Arrive in San Francisco

Mom and Dad Fannin arrived Thursday morning. They spent the day with Kelley seeing the sights.

Then they came to pick me up on my last day of work at AMB.

Breakfast with Ella!

Hi Ella Marie:

Aunt Kelley and I sure wish we could meet you...we figured the next best thing would be to have breakfast with you (see the name on the menu).

We ate brunch today with Ella! This is a restaurant that Aunt Kelley has been wanting to visit for a few weeks, even before you were born!

Last night we visited Kelley's friend, Elizabeth and her husband Ricardo. They made us a beautiful dinner and we even got to chat a bit with Kate from NY (see the skype photo below).

The Drive to Los Angeles

We took the scenic route from San Francisco to LA. These were some of the photogenic spots we saw on the way. My parents might recognize the images of the "lone" tree...the location is one of their favorite spots near Pebble Beach!

Kelley's Recent Art

Kelley recently finished a painting for one of my coworkers. The painting is of his home and it is a gift for his wife.

Kelley did this painting below, of a vineyard, a few weeks ago and she gave it to her friend, Elizabeth.

Visit With Grandma Dorothy

Kelley and I traveled to Los Angeles 2 weekends ago in order to visit Grandma Dorothy. We had a nice day and a half with her. She took us to a couple different areas of the city. These photos are from Long Beach and the dinner photo is from a Mexican restaurant near Hollywood.
